DPS on Jan 10th 2019 - Role of preventive care in todays healthcare - 43rd session

Dr Sarita addressed the public on the importance of preventive care, especially related to lifestyle diseases that have overtaken the infection related diseases. Obesity , hypertension and diabetes are interlinked problems that cause organ damage without any overt symptoms. often people come to hospital for vomiting or feeling breathless and are told to have a kidney failure requiring dialysis. this comes as a shock and very often, they start doubting the diagnosis and in disbelief do doctor shopping, go to non allopathy practises , only to come back in a worse condition.

once a year basic check ups , tailored to their risk factors will help in preventing medical problems.

session ended with questions and answers from the audience
